About this grant

Provides capital grants for the design, construction, major renovation, and equipping of Community Centers across New York State. Funding prioritizes the creation of new Community Centers and serves communities offering social, educational, recreational, and cultural programming for youth, adults, and seniors. At least half of total funding is reserved for projects in Underserved Communities.

Priority Level 1: up to $15,000,000 for new construction or expansion (project total $6.25M–$18.75M)
Priority Level 2: $1,000,000–$5,000,000 for new construction or expansion (project total $1.25M–$6.25M)
Priority Level 3: $250,000–$5,000,000 for renovation of existing Community Centers (project total $312,500–$6.25M)
At least $37.5 million reserved for projects in Underserved Communities
Total program funding of at least $75 million available for Round 2

Completed Application including all worksheets and attachments submitted via DASNY Grants Application Portal
Applicant Worksheets to Calculate Community Need and Project Planning (Worksheets 1, 2, and 3)
Application Certification (Appendix 3)
Certificate of Municipal Site Control (Appendix 4) or deed/lease documentation for Not-for-profit Entities
Evidence of planning (Construction Documents, Design Development Documents, or Schematic Design Documents with signed letter from designer of record)
Documentation of committed Matching Funds (at least 20% of total Capital Costs)
Approved Prequalification status in SFS (for Not-for-profit Entities)
W-9 Form with Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)

Eligibility

Applicant must be a Municipality (County, City, Town, Village, or Indian Nation) or a Prequalified Not-for-profit Entity incorporated in New York State
Not-for-profit Entities must have approved Prequalification status in the Statewide Financial System (SFS) prior to application submission
Applicant must have adequate Site Control of the property to be used as a Community Center
The facility's primary or dedicated purpose must be providing scheduled programming to the community (not a library, school, gym, daycare, house of worship, food pantry, or health care facility)
Grantee must provide at least 20% of Capital Costs from other committed funding sources (Matching Funds)
Eligible Project Costs must be Capital Costs; proceeds may not be used for salaries, maintenance, lease payments, utilities, supplies, or debt repayment
Proceeds may not reimburse costs incurred on or before April 1, 2026
Applicants who previously received a BRICKS award may only apply if they have drawn down 100% of the prior award or formally withdrawn in writing prior to the application deadline
