Grant for International Democracy-Focused Nongovernmental Organizations

Supports nongovernmental organizations working abroad to advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions in more than 100 countries. Funded programs focus on areas such as human rights, rule of law, freedom of information, independent media, civil society strengthening, and civic education. Organizations working in nascent democracies, countries undergoing democratic transitions, semi-authoritarian countries, and highly repressive societies are especially encouraged to apply.
