About this grant

Supports wrongful conviction review (WCR) entities and their criminal justice and victims' services partners to more effectively identify, assess, and manage post-conviction claims of innocence. Projects may include collaborative partnerships with prosecutor's offices or conviction integrity units. The program also aims to enhance public safety by preventing future errors, identifying actual perpetrators of crimes, and delivering justice to victims.

Financial Management and System of Internal Controls Questionnaire
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or letter of intent with each project partner (if applicable)
Disclosures and Assurances (Lobbying, Duplication in Cost Items, DOJ Certified Standard Assurances, DOJ Certifications)

Eligibility

Must be a state, county, city/township, or special district government; federally recognized or other Native American Tribal government; public or private institution of higher education; or nonprofit organization (with or without 501(c)(3) status)
Applicant must be or partner with a wrongful conviction review (WCR) entity focused on post-conviction claims of innocence
Only one application may be submitted per entity to one category of the NOFO
Requested award amount must not exceed $600,000
Application must be responsive to the scope of the NOFO
Federal funds may not be used for forensic genetic genealogy (FGG)
Projects must not violate federal immigration law or applicable federal civil rights/nondiscrimination law
