About this grant

Supports public humanities programming in Alabama communities, including lecture series, temporary exhibitions, oral history projects, documentary films, humanities-rich conferences and festivals, and podcasts. Projects must include public participation, strong humanities content, and direct involvement of humanities scholars. A 1:1 cost share match is required.

How to apply

Online application through AHA's Online Grants Portal (account required)
Project narrative including humanities content, public participation plan, and scholar involvement
Project budget using AHA's budget narrative template with 1:1 cost share match
Evaluation plan for assessing project goals
Named Project Director and Financial Officer (must be separate individuals)
Identification of at least one humanities scholar not serving as project director
Organization's UEI number
Project timeline including program dates

Eligibility

Must be a nonprofit organization, accredited public or 501(c)(3) institution of higher education, state or local government agency, or federally recognized Native American tribal government
Must have a physical presence in or regularly serve an Alabama audience
Must have an EIN and a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI)
Must be in good standing with AHA
Must not be a for-profit entity, federal entity, or debarred/suspended organization
Must not use a fiscal sponsor as the sole applicant entity
Must involve at least one humanities scholar who is not also serving as project director
Requires a 1:1 cost share match
