About this grant

Supports the development of new and improved statistical and research methodology products for use by education researchers, including methods, toolkits, guidelines, compendia, review papers, software, and curated data resources. Projects must include end-user testing and broad dissemination to education researchers across academic, government, and nonprofit/for-profit sectors. Two topic areas are available: Core Grants for developing new methods and Toolkits for compiling existing research into usable products.

Core Grants: up to $900,000 over a maximum of 3 years
Toolkits Grants: up to $350,000 over a maximum of 2 years
Possible project start dates: July 1, 2027 – September 1, 2027

Project narrative (maximum 15 pages) with sections: Significance, Research Plan, Personnel, and Resources
Appendix A: Engagement and Dissemination Plan (Required)
Appendix F: Alignment with SEER Standards (Required)
Appendix B: Response to Reviewers (Required for resubmissions only)

Eligibility

Institutions that have the ability and capacity to conduct scientific research are eligible to apply
Eligible applicants include non-profit and for-profit organizations and public and private agencies and institutions, such as colleges and universities
Application must be directed to one of the two Methods topics (Core Grants or Toolkits)
Must meet formatting requirements including page limits (15 pages for project narrative)
Must include required appendices: Appendix A (Engagement and Dissemination Plan) and Appendix F (Alignment with SEER Standards)
Resubmissions must include Appendix B (Response to Reviewers)
Must be received and validated by Grants.gov no later than 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 1, 2026
All recipients must be in compliance with research security requirements prior to receiving IES funding
