About this grant

Provides emergency funding to eligible nonprofit organizations facing urgent, unforeseen funding needs in two categories: loss of public funding and unplanned emergency situations. Grants support health, safety, and basic needs; aid for vulnerable communities; nonpartisan advocacy; and programs fostering social connection and cultural programming. Priority is given to organizations with an existing grantee relationship with the foundation.

Emergency grants generally up to $5,000, with additional resources available on a case-by-case basis
Staff response to initial inquiry within 2-3 business days
Funding decision within approximately two weeks of application submission

List of board members
Copy of Management letter of most recent audited financial statements (if organization has been audited)

Eligibility

Must be a nonprofit organization (501(c)(3), religious organization, school, or government entity), or apply through a fiscal sponsor
Funding need must arise from unexpected, unforeseen circumstances
Must demonstrate the time-sensitive nature of the need
Must explain why the organization could not predict or reasonably plan for the situation
Must outline a clear strategy for preventing similar funding emergencies in the future
Emergency Grants will NOT cover budget shortfalls or repairs caused by deferred maintenance
Public funding loss must not result from regular legislative budgeting process
Priority given to organizations with an existing grantee relationship with CFMV
