About this grant

Funds collaborative scientific research to advance forest health, wildfire resilience, and greenhouse gas reduction at landscape scales across California. Projects should involve multiple partners across organizations, institutions, jurisdictions, or disciplines and produce applied benefits for forest and fire management. Research themes include improved vegetation management strategies, decision support for risk reduction, wildfire impact assessment, future condition predictions, emissions reductions, and climate policy improvements.

Eligibility

Must be a public or nonprofit university, affiliated academic institution, public agency, local agency, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, special district, joint powers authority, tribe, public utility, local publicly owned utility, or mutual water company
Organization must be able to obtain a US Employer or Tax Identification Number
Projects must be focused on and relevant to forests and other California ecosystems and their management
A significant portion of the geographic area proposed for study must be contained within California
Study areas may not be located outside the United States
Research must be collaborative in nature, including multiple partners working across organizations, institutions, jurisdictions, and/or disciplines
