About this grant

Provides expert-guided strategic planning support to rural communities and nonprofits ready to pursue long-term economic vitality. A team of three to five experts meets with local committees to assess conditions and develop a customized action plan. The program also offers targeted financial support to help implement key next steps identified in the planning process.

Eligibility

Must be a city or county government, federally recognized tribal government, or federally tax-exempt nonprofit agency or foundation
Project/program must exist in and benefit a community in Iowa with a population of 20,000 or fewer
Community must not be contiguous to a city with a population of 40,000 or greater
If a countywide project, must be in one of the 88 least populous counties in Iowa
Applicants must be fully committed to leading meaningful change and sustaining momentum long after the planning period ends
