About this grant

Supports common-good-oriented media organizations in developing a practical and implementable growth strategy for an existing product, format, distribution channel, or revenue stream. Funding is based on market research and practical tests to verify growth hypotheses, with a focus on organizations that report for underserved communities. The program includes both financial support and coaching throughout the funding year.

What you get

Project funding of up to 200,000 euros for a one-year period
25,000 euros reserved for coaching support throughout the funding year
Regular check-ins with a coach to support strategy roadmap implementation
Methodological advice on planning and conducting research and market tests
Access to upskilling program including thematic deep dives and learning visits
Travel costs covered for up to two people for the in-person jury pitch
Detailed feedback if not selected for funding

How to apply

Preliminary analysis of growth barriers and potentials (submitted via form after info event)
Full funding application form
Strategy roadmap with milestones
Cost and financing plan
Annual financial statement or preliminary financial statement of preceding fiscal year
Extract from the association or commercial register (incl. shareholder list)
Proof of non-profit or charitable status (for non-profit organizations in Austria, Switzerland, or Germany)
Pitch deck presentation to jury (in-person, 30-40 minutes)

Eligibility

Must be a common-good-oriented media organization
Applications are by invitation only from Media Forward Fund
Must have already met basic eligibility requirements through a previous application to Media Forward Fund
Must be based in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, or Switzerland)
Must fill a gap in reporting and use approaches that differ from existing methods in the DACH region and/or their respective market
Must have an existing product, format, distribution channel, or revenue stream for which a growth strategy will be developed
