About this grant

Funds backup power solutions for nonprofit and municipal organizations so they can continue providing essential services during emergencies and power outages. Up to 15 awardees will be selected through a competitive scoring process evaluated on four criteria: durable, integrated, impactful, and feasible. The initiative is focused on organizations serving communities in southwestern Pennsylvania.

How to apply

Registration by August 26, 2026 deadline
Completed online application form
Description of specific problem to be solved and community needs addressed (Section D)
Documentation of building/property ownership (may be collected in later stages)
Proposal for backup power solution

Eligibility

Must be a 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or (2) organization with IRS tax determination letter, OR a local/tribal government agency
Must be based in and serving communities within the United States and/or U.S. territories
Must serve and benefit communities in at least one of ten specified counties in southwestern Pennsylvania
Lead Organization must own the building and/or property where the project will be located
For portable generators, Lead Organization must own the building where generators would be stored or used
Must register by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Fiscally-sponsored organizations are not eligible
For-profit companies, schools, colleges, universities, and state/federal government agencies are not eligible
