About this grant

Provides small grants to grassroots groups and advocates working on environmental justice issues related to industrial pollution, clean water, and climate in West Virginia. Funded projects must include a clear advocacy component such as policy influence, community organizing, or civic engagement. Priority is given to groups organizing in directly impacted communities with small annual budgets.

Organizing support including community outreach and advocacy strategy assistance
Communications support including messaging, media outreach, and amplification through WV Rivers platforms

Eligibility

Must be an organization, not an individual applying on their own behalf
Must be organizing in directly impacted communities in West Virginia
Proposal must include a clear advocacy component (e.g., policy influence, community organizing, civic engagement)
Annual budget not exceeding $50,000 strongly preferred; budgets between $75,000–$100,000 may be considered
Groups without incorporation or a bank account must have a fiscal sponsor
Approved applicants must submit a W-9 form and MOU before funding is dispersed
A final completion form is required within 30 days of project completion
