About this grant

Provides loan and grant funding to rural electric cooperatives to deploy advanced transmission infrastructure and nuclear power supply, reducing future emissions and improving grid efficiency. The program supports eligible electric cooperatives in achieving net reductions consistent with the Inflation Reduction Act by increasing emission-free nuclear power and transmission efficiency. Funding is structured as a combination of loans (up to 75%) and grants, with awardees required to contribute at least 25% equity.

Eligibility

Must be an operating electric cooperative described in section 501(c)(12) or 1381(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code
Must currently be or have been a RUS electric loan borrower pursuant to the RE Act
OR must be an electric cooperative serving predominantly Rural Areas (at least 50% Rural Areas in service territory)
OR must be a wholly or jointly owned subsidiary of such electric cooperatives
Awardee must provide and maintain at least 25% of the project's total capitalized cost as cash or equity investment
