About this grant

Supports the implementation and expansion of structured mentoring services to youth aged 17 and under who are at risk or high risk for delinquency, victimization, or involvement in the juvenile justice system. Funded organizations must deliver evidence-based, standalone mentoring programs across one or more states, with services delivered through one-on-one, group, peer, or combined mentoring models. Three funding categories are available based on the number of states in which the applicant currently operates mentoring programs.

Category 1: up to $1,000,000 grant award
Category 2: $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 grant award
Category 3: $2,000,000 to $4,000,000 grant award
36-month award period starting January 1, 2027
Access to training and technical assistance (TTA) from the National Mentoring Resource Center (NMRC)
Support for implementation of the National Quality Mentoring System

Eligibility

Organization must have been in existence and providing mentoring services for at least 3 years
Must be currently delivering a structured, standalone mentoring program in the applicable number of states for the chosen category
Primary applicant must be the office headquarters of the mentoring organization or the office headquarters for the proposed mentoring curriculum
Applicants may submit only one application to only one category
Category 1: currently delivering mentoring in 1 state; Category 2: 2–10 states; Category 3: 11–44 states
Eligible entity types include state/county/city/tribal governments, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations
Subgrantees must implement the same mentoring program or established curriculum as the primary applicant
Applicants that are members/affiliates/subgrantees of larger mentoring organizations are ineligible if the standalone model is being implemented through the larger organization's headquarters
