About this grant

Funds Indiana-based organizations to establish or expand activity-based therapy programs for individuals with traumatic spinal cord injuries or traumatic brain injuries. Programs must employ licensed physical therapists and provide long-term, affordable rehabilitative care using functional and task-specific approaches to promote neuroplasticity and recovery. Both clinical care programs and equipment purchases are supported.

Scholarship funding allowable for patients with non-reimbursable expenses
Possibility of a no-cost extension of up to 12 months

Proposed program description addressing all review criteria
Resumes/CVs/Biosketches (NIH format) for program director and collaborators
Prior submission summary (if previously submitted or funded, including outcomes data)
Prior reviews if this is a resubmission
All documents must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards

Eligibility

Must be located within Indiana
Must be exempt from federal income taxation under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code
Must employ physical therapists licensed under IC 25-27
Must provide long-term activity-based therapy services at affordable rates to individuals with spinal cord or brain injuries requiring extended post-acute care
Program director and all staff must be employed by an Indiana-based organization
Must have staff with the education, skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed program
Grant funding period cannot exceed 24 months and may begin no earlier than July 1, 2027
Budget requests may not include indirect costs
