Disaster Recovery Grant for Humanities Collections Organizations

• Up to $30,000 in outright grant funds
• Period of performance up to one year
• Funds for emergency response and recovery supplies and equipment
• Funds for consultations with preservation professionals
• Funds for emergency response and recovery service providers
• Award announcement approximately 60 days after receipt of application

• Narrative (up to 3 pages, required)
• Work plan (required)
• Résumés for key personnel (2 pages per person, required)
• Photographs of damage (recommended, up to 4 pages)
• SF-424 Application for Federal Assistance – Short Organizational (required)
• Supplementary Cover Sheet for NEH Grant Programs (required)
• Research and Related Budget and Budget Justification (required)
• Federally negotiated indirect cost rate agreement (conditionally required)

• Must be a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3), an accredited institution of higher education (public or nonprofit), a state or local government or agency, or a federally recognized Native American Tribal government
• Organization must be established in the United States or its jurisdictions
• Individuals and foreign or for-profit entities are ineligible
• NEH will only consider applications if the NEH Chair specifically invites the organization to apply or issues an open call for applications from organizations in a declared disaster area
• Organization must have been impacted by a local, state, regional, or federally declared disaster
• Must steward humanities collections (e.g., rare books, documents, photographs, artwork, sculptures, audiovisual media, digital collections)
