About this grant

Provides matching grants to help economically stressed Catholic parishes in Puerto Rico fund their required 10% cost share for FEMA-approved permanent repair and construction projects following federally declared disasters. Parishes receive either a 50/50 or 25/75 matching challenge structure depending on their financial need and diocesan endorsement. The program targets parishes that lack the financial capacity to independently cover their cost share obligations.

Eligibility

Must be a Catholic parish in Puerto Rico
Must be pre-screened and endorsed by their local diocese
Parish must have been obligated funds by FEMA for Permanent Repairs/Construction
Parish must have competitively bid contracts for all architectural, engineering, and construction work compliant with FEMA guidelines
Pastor must be willing to attend periodic meetings with other pastors in Puerto Rico
Parish must demonstrate inability to independently fund their 10% FEMA cost share
Qualifying matching dollars must be raised after the matching challenge approval date
