This competition supports early-stage startups innovating in food and agriculture, with a focus on sustainable business practices. Eligible formative-stage companies can compete for a $50,000 investment and support from Penn State University and corporate partners. Finalists receive travel stipends and accommodations to participate in the pitch competition. The program is designed to help startups scale, advance R&D, and grow their teams.
Eligibility requirements
Formative-stage business entity (corporation or LLC)
Less than seven years from date of formal organization (must meet at least two criteria)
First product or service in testing or pilot production (must meet at least two criteria)
Pre-revenue or early (<$1 million TTM) revenue (must meet at least two criteria)
Leadership team working towards commercialization and profitability (must meet at least two criteria)
Teams with an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student from any accredited college or university are preferred, but not required
